KARLSHAMN, Sweden, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- Swedish police said the search for a missing trio of nude female hikers was called off when the women found their own way out of the woods.

Authorities said the German women, ages 40, 50 and 56, were camping with a group of naturist friends Sunday and went for a nude hike at about 4 p.m. in the woods near Karlshamn, The Local reported Tuesday.

Their companions called police when the women failed to return after several hours.

A police helicopter and sniffer dogs were deployed to the area but the search was called off at 10:30 p.m. when the women returned to their cottage near Langasjon lake. The women told police they became lost during the hike and it took them several hours to find their way back.
