BAINBRIDGE ISLAND, Wash., July 14 (UPI) -- Police said a Washington state ferry had to take evasive maneuvers to avoid a sailboat containing four men who showed their backsides to the vessel's crew.

Bainbridge Island Police said the ferry sounded its emergency horn several times to try to get the sailboat to move out of its path, but the captain was eventually forced to reverse engines just prior to 5 p.m. Saturday, the (Bremerton, Wash.) Kitsap Sun reported Wednesday.

The crew told police the sailboat briefly disappeared from view and the four men "mooned" the crew when the boat re-emerged from beneath the ferry's bow.

Police said the men, who appeared to be drinking beer, were described as white and in their 30s. Investigators said they received a description of the boat from the crew, but police were unable to find the sailboat after the incident.
