AUBURN, Maine, July 12 (UPI) -- A Maine woman said a stranger who found her class ring, which was stolen 28 years ago, tracked her down on Facebook to return the item.

Michelle Bilodeau, 45, of Auburn, said the pink Edward Little High School Class of '83 ring was stolen her junior year of high school and she did not think she would ever get it back until her recently created Facebook account received a message from Angie Foster, the Sun Journal, Lewiston, Maine, reported Monday.

Foster, of Benton, said she found the ring while working at Happy Wheels in Winslow as a teenager and began searching for the original owner about 15 years ago.

Foster said she was able to learn Bilodeau's name by calling the school with a description of the ring, but she was unable to find the other woman until her recent Facebook search.

"I always wanted to get it back to who it belonged to," she said. "By accident, one day, I was sitting at work -- 'I wonder if she's on Facebook?'"

Bilodeau, who received the ring from Foster during a Friday meeting, said the Facebook account was only a few weeks old.
