INDIANAPOLIS, July 6 (UPI) -- An 11-year-old Californian took home the junior title at the 2010 Pokemon Video Game National Championships in Indianapolis after besting 190 competitors.

Wade Stanley III, 11, of Sabre Springs, will now move on to next month's 2010 Pokemon Video Game World Championships at the Hilton Waikoloa Village in Hawaii, where he will face off against 48 players from the United States, Britain, Japan, France, Spain and Germany, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported Tuesday.

The boy, who first started playing the monster battling video game 3 years ago, received a Nintendo Wii console, a Nintendo DSi handheld and airfare for him to attend the world championships with a parent.

Stanley will compete next month to potentially win a trophy, customized Pokemon merchandise, an offer to defend his title next year and a trip for four to Tokyo, New York or the Hawaiian island of Oahu.
