HOLLYWOOD, Fla., July 5 (UPI) -- A Florida man is claiming a world record for his 16-foot forward-jump flip.

Robert Souris, 28, performed the gravity-defying tumbling trick at a park in Hollywood, Fla. this week and will try to have it recorded for posterity by Guinness World Records.

A forward-jump flip is a stunt in which a gymnast runs, launches forward, performs a flip in midair and then lands well in front of the starting point.

The South Florida Sun Sentinel had one of its reporters on hand to witness Souris' attempt, which is a condition of having a record saluted by Guinness.

The newspaper said when Souris, part of the Creative Characters tumbling group, completed the record-setting flight, he celebrated by jumping in the air and performing a perfect back flip.
