Museum officials said they began searching for Davis, who now lives in Bethany Beach, Del., after discovering the 1914 Baltimore News Babe Ruth rookie card has an estimated worth of $500,000.

"He told me if it were up to him, he'd leave the card with the museum," museum executive director Mike Gibbons said. "But he was going to talk to his wife about it, and he said his wife might have other ideas."

"He promised he'd get back to us by the end of the week with his decision," Gibbons said.
