COPENHAGEN, Denmark, June 23 (UPI) -- The Danish owners of a dating site for "beautiful" people said they are starting a fertility donation service to maximize the chances of beautiful babies.

Robert Hintze, co-founder of international dating site BeautifulPeople.com, said the site will be adding a service for any people who "want to maximize their chances of having good-looking children" with a database of sperm and egg donors deemed "beautiful" by members of the site, CanWest News Service reported Wednesday.

"Initially, we hesitated to widen the offering to non-beautiful people," Hintze said. "But everyone -- including ugly people -- would like to bring good-looking children into the world, and we can't be selfish with our attractive gene pool."

Managing Director Greg Hodge said the scheme came after the site was approached by several fertility clinics seeking to advertise to attractive people.

"Any parent wants their child to have as many fine attributes as possible. And like it or not, right or wrong, attractiveness falls into that category," Hodge said. "If you had a choice between a genetic donation from Brad Pitt or Shrek, you're going to roll with Brad Pitt."
