PEORIA, Ill., June 23 (UPI) -- An Illinois man who said a friend apparently shot him because he insulted his girlfriend said he did not notice the wound to his leg until the next day.

Tracy Durham, 48, of Peoria, said he remembered hearing a pop while drinking from a bottle of Crown Royal whiskey during a party at his home Sunday night but he did not feel any pain and did not notice the gunshot wound until a neighbor pointed out he was limping the next morning, the Peoria Journal Star reported Wednesday.

Durham, who estimates he was shot at about 11 p.m., was treated at Methodist Medical Center. He told police a friend apparently shot him because of a comment he made about the man's girlfriend being ugly.

Durham refused to identify the alleged shooter.
