The St. Paul Pioneer Press reported the ladies-only event on the St. Croix River drew city police to the Stillwater dock about 10 p.m. Thursday.
While no one was seriously injured, Brittany Sapphare Paige, 21, of Apple Valley, who was at radio station KDWB's "Booty Cruise" aboard the boat chartered from Andiamo Enterprises, told the newspaper Friday she saw one woman with "a pretty big gash in her head, another had a golf-ball sized knot."
"I just know that at one point I saw six, seven girls fighting and tussling," Paige said. "I went to go break it up and every time we tried to break it up, another fight broke out somewhere else.
"It was the end of the night and everything had gone so well. I just thought, 'Oh it shouldn't end so bad.'"
An Andiamo representative said the melee started over "something about a shoe" but had no further details.
A police report stated one of the women cited, Markeisha Donyae May, 21, of New Hope, told police someone had thrown alcohol on her and the fight stemmed from a "race issue."
KDWB on-air personality Dave Ryan was aboard the boat but station Operations Manager Rob Morris told the Pioneer Press he was "not aware of anything."
"They didn't mention it on the morning show," Morris said. "It's a party, so anything can happen."
