OTTAWA, June 7 (UPI) -- Residents of Ottawa said the locking lids on their green organic recycling bins are no match for the Canadian city's tenacious raccoons.

Glen McGregor, a resident of Ottawa's Westboro neighborhood and a journalist with the Ottawa Citizen, said he set up a video camera to figure out how the raccoons were getting into the bins, which Toronto firm Norseman Environmental bills as having "optimum security against pests," the Citizen reported Monday.

McGregor said the raccoon in the video uses its claws to pry the lid from side to side before using its teeth to pop it off the bin.
