Lynnwood police spokeswoman Shannon Sessions said the man was shopping at about 12:30 p.m. Sunday when his gun, which was in the waistband of his pants, went off in an apparent "accidental discharge," The Seattle Times reported Tuesday.

"It made a loud noise and scared a lot of people in the store," Sessions said. "I believe he shot himself in the testicles and he also had some injuries to his leg and foot. He was obviously in shock."

Sessions said police did not have a chance to interview the man before he was rushed to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, but investigators determined "at this point it does look like it's accidental."

Police are continuing to investigate, the spokeswoman said.

911 caller reports mom took his beer

NEW PORT RICHEY, Fla., June 1 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said a man charged with making false 911 reports called the emergency number several times to report his mother took away his beer.

A Pasco County Sheriff's Office arrest report said Charles Dennison, 32, of New Port Richey called 911 multiple times Friday and said he wanted his mother arrested for taking his beer, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Tuesday.

The report said Dennison was "very intoxicated" when a deputy arrived and he said the 911 calls would not stop until his mother was arrested.

Dennison was charged with making false 911 calls and jailed in lieu of $150 bail.

Job posting excludes unemployed

ATLANTA, June 1 (UPI) -- A Florida-based recruiting company said an Atlanta job posting excluding the unemployed is representative of a growing trend among employers.

Orlando-based The People Place posted an opening for a Sony Ericsson marketing position in Atlanta with a note at the end reading: "No unemployed candidates will be considered at all," WXIA-TV, Atlanta, reported Tuesday.

Howard Lawson, a recruiter for The People Place, declined to specifically comment on the posting, but he said there is a "growing trend" of companies seeking to only hire the currently employed.

An Atlanta recruiter unrelated to the posting said companies are employing talent search firms to help find passive job seekers, defined as currently employed people interested in taking new jobs.

The People Place's posting for the Sony Ericsson job was modified Monday afternoon to remove the note at the end, WXIA said.

Family dog leads owner to stolen items

DECATUR, Ga., June 1 (UPI) -- Police in Georgia said a dog named Rudy led his owner to a cache of the family's stolen items in the woods -- and to the arrest of seven suspects.

Robert Justice of DeKalb County said his family adopted Rudy after a string of burglaries near their home but the dog was locked in his cage when thieves struck early Sunday, WSB-TV, Atlanta, reported Tuesday.

Justice said he was walking Rudy a few hours after the burglary and the dog picked up a scent he couldn't ignore.

"He was pulling me and he was just sniffing constantly on the ground and there it was, my items," Justice said.

He said the thieves returned when he went home to tell his mother and the family copied down the license plate of the vehicle the group used to haul the items.

Police said they arrested seven suspects about 20 minutes later at a fast-food restaurant and investigators are looking into whether the incident was connected to other burglaries.
