NEW YORK, May 18 (UPI) -- A New York nightclub said it has sold six $160-per-glass cocktails since first opening its doors about a month ago.
Orson Salicetti, head mixologist at the Covet nightclub, said The Icarus cocktail includes Louis XIII cognac, which retails for $1,600 a bottle, and two drops of Iranian saffron oil, worth $300 a gram, the New York Daily News reported Tuesday.
"This place is called 'Covet,' so I wanted to make something sensual, exotic, mythological," Salicetti said. "This is more than just a cocktail. It's an experience."
Salicetti said he is the only employee at Covet allowed to mix The Icarus.
"I do not trust anyone else to make this drink. It is too special," he said. "It's a true VIP experience for the customer. Everyone who has tried it has loved it."
