BURBANK, Calif., April 22 (UPI) -- A California woman accused of hitting an airport security worker during a dispute involving applesauce was cleared of charges by a judge.

Nadine Kay Hays, 58, was charged with battery last April after a Transportation Security Administration agent at Burbank's Bob Hope Airport said the woman made a fist and struck her in the hand during an argument about a cooler containing applesauce, cheese and milk for her 93-year-old mother, who was traveling with her to Nashville, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday.

Hays, whose mother died last month, said she didn't strike the agent and was only attempting to stop security workers from taking her mother's food.

"I am not going to plead guilty to something I didn't do. I'm a person of character," Hays said. "I end up reliving this disaster every spare moment of my life. You just flash back and you see these scenes over and over."

A judge threw the charges out Tuesday.
