Group re-enacts Revolutionary War start

LEXINGTON, Mass., April 19 (UPI) -- More than 200 people re-enacted the skirmish that began the Revolutionary War Monday in Lexington, Mass., organizers said.

The Lexington Minute Men said they marked the 235th anniversary of the battle Monday with the re-enactment of the confrontation between 3,500 Lexington militia men and 1,500 British "red coats," the Boston Herald reported Monday.

The group said thousands of spectators turned out to watch the re-enactment, which began at 5:30 a.m. on the Lexington Green.

The Minute Men said other activities planned for Monday include a parade from East Lexington to the Minute Man Statue in Lexington Center.
