'Sausage' man hit by motorcycle

MILWAUKEE, April 7 (UPI) -- A man dressed as a sausage for the Opening Day Klement's Racing Sausages relay in Milwaukee said he was not seriously injured in a collision with a motorcycle.

Kevin Carboni, of La Crosse, Wis., said he was running in the sausage relay from the Klement's factory to Miller Park for the event celebrating the Milwaukee Brewers' season opener Monday and was struck by a police motorcycle when he attempted to high five some spectators at the side of the road, the La Crosse Tribune reported.

"It looks a lot worse than it is," Carboni said of video footage of the incident. "It must be that tough Klement's casing."

Carboni said his foot and leg were hurt a little, but he was able to finish his part of the relay.

He said the incident has not soured him on the sausage relay.

"I'd do it again in a second," he said. "Without the motorcycle, of course."

Angels fans attempt blanket record

LOS ANGELES, April 7 (UPI) -- The Los Angeles Angels Tuesday game against the Minnesota Twins featured an attempt to set a record for largest gathering of people wearing fleece blankets.

Fans attending the game at Angels Stadium in Anaheim, Calif., were given blankets featuring the name and number of Hideki Matsui, a designated hitter recently acquired from the New York Yankees.

Team officials said a Guinness World Records adjudicator would be on hand for the moment during the game when fans were instructed to don the blankets to determine whether the previous record -- set March 5 at a Cleveland Cavaliers basketball game, when 17,758 people wore fleece blankets -- had been broken.

"Setting this world record will be a unique and memorable experience for our fans, the first of many in 2010," Angels spokesman Tim Mead said.

Officials estimated more than 30,000 Angels fans put on the blankets.

Teen seeks Guinness record for trick

DEL CITY, Okla., April 7 (UPI) -- An Oklahoma teenager said he is trying to get official Guinness recognition for the world's longest skateboard stationary manual at 1 minute 21 seconds.

Aaron Shirazi, 18, of Del City, said he destroyed the current Guinness World Record for the longest stationary manual, a trick involving keeping the skateboard on two wheels while holding still, by holding the position for longer than the 49.09 seconds logged by pro skateboarder Rob Dyrdek in 2007, The Oklahoman, Oklahoma City, reported.

Shirazi said he is in the process of collecting signatures, witnesses, video and photos required by Guinness to set an official world record.

"It's worth a shot to make it official," Shirazi said. "It would be pretty cool to be in there."

Once-a-year beer sold out in advance

MUNSTER, Ind., April 7 (UPI) -- The Indiana brewers of Dark Lord, a thick stout available only once a year, said tickets allowing holders to purchase bottles have already sold out for 2010.

Three Floyds Brewing Co. said the brew would only be sold April 24, "Dark Lord Day," and only holders of "Golden Tickets" offered online would be allowed to purchase a 22-ounce bottle for $15, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.

Officials with the company said the tickets sold out less than half an hour after they were released.

The officials said "Dark Lord Day" draws beer fans from across the country, including many without Golden Tickets who bring their own beer to celebrate at the Munster brewery.

Brewer Barnaby Struve said the company takes measures to ensure the celebration stays under control.

"It's organized chaos," Struve said. "We have about 12 cops around with their Tasers all warmed up and waiting. Don't say I didn't warn ya."
