PINE PLAINS, N.Y., April 5 (UPI) -- Authorities in New York state said three accused heroin dealers were arrested after they mistakenly texted a drug task force member instead of a buyer.

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force said an agent received an apparent wrong-number text at about 7:30 p.m. Wednesday and replied with a text implying interest in purchasing the heroin offered by the message, the Poughkeepsie (N.Y.) Journal reported Monday.

Investigators said the agent met with two of the suspects in Pine Plains at 9 p.m. and Crystal Mazzella, 23, and Quamian Hardy, 20, were arrested with 20 bags of heroin. The bust led agents to an apartment where Leo Thompson, 37, was arrested with a further 40 bags of the drug.

All three suspects were charged with felony criminal possession of a controlled substance. They are due back in court Wednesday.
