Deputy sues over spit on burger

VANCOUVER, Wash., March 31 (UPI) -- A Washington state sheriff's deputy's lawsuit against Burger King and a franchise owner claims an employee of the fast-food chain spit on his Whopper.

Clark County Deputy Edward Bylsma's lawsuit against Burger King Corp. and Kaizen Foods, which owns the restaurant's Northwest franchises, claims a 22-year-old worker spit on Bylsma's burger when the deputy ordered at the drive-through window while in his patrol car at the Vancouver location in March 2009, KIRO-TV, Seattle, reported Wednesday.

Anne Bremner, an attorney for Bysma said DNA from the saliva in the burger matches the suspected worker's, KPTV, Portland, Ore., reported Wednesday.

The lawsuit is seeking unspecified damages and changes to the fast-food chain's hiring and supervision procedures.
