LOUTH, England, March 29 (UPI) -- Britain's oldest dad, who fathered a child at the age of 74, says he eats many bananas and avoids unhealthy food.
"People might say things about my age, but I look after myself," Gerry Burks said. "I eat lots of bananas and always have done, sometimes a couple a day."
Burks and his wife Dawn, 41, have a new son, Ryan, and a 6-year-old son, Daniel. Burks, of Louth, Lincolnshire, also has three other children from a marriage that ended in 1985, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Ryan was born March 12 weighing 5 pounds, 7 ounces. He initially suffered breathing difficulties but has improved enough to move home with his parents.
The Burkses married in 2001 after living next door to each other for a decade.
The world's oldest father is Nanu Ram Jogi of India, who became a dad at 90.
