CHICAGO, March 26 (UPI) -- A Chicago high school is offering a $5,000 reward to help catch a person who has been stealing the school's bleachers, the principal says.
Jammie Poole Jr. of Orr Academy High School says someone operating under cover of darkness has been dismantling the bleachers, piece by piece, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.
Since early January the thief has removed the bench seats and recently started hacking off the aluminum facing, Poole says.
A grainy image of the thief has been captured on surveillance video but the quality is too poor to determine his identity.
Officials estimate it will cost about $45,000 to repair the bleachers.
