CHICAGO, March 26 (UPI) -- A new luxury hotel in Chicago has instructed its staff to politely turn down tips from guests, the founder and chief executive officer says.
David Pisor, founder of the Elysian Hotel that opened in December, said he doesn't think people paying up to $1,600 a night should have to worry about tipping, the Chicago Sun-Times reported Friday.
"I think it's actually annoying," Pisor said.
Staffers at the Elysian, where rates start at $400 and go all the way up to $1,600 for the presidential suite, have been instructed to politely refuse tips.
Pisor said he pays Elysian workers "a little bit more" more to compensate for the lack of tips.
