Workers at Dolly's Pizza in Ferndale said a man took a leukemia charity's cardboard sign with slots in it for quarter donations from the counter of the restaurant Wednesday, WDIV-TV, Detroit, reported.

Two other men and a woman walked into the store minutes later and security camera footage shows the cardboard sign was in a bag being carried by the woman. The trio left with a donation jar for the funeral of manager Raymond Hollifield's brother.

Hollifield said one of the men returned to the store Saturday and quickly left after placing an envelope on the front desk. He did not say how much of the stolen money was inside.

"He ended up saying sorry and that he had already spent some and that he felt horrible," Hollifield said. "He ended up having a pretty good-hearted conscience."

Police said they were working to identify the suspects.

College billboard contains grammar mistake

HOLLYWOOD, Fla., March 23 (UPI) -- Residents of a Florida town reacted with amusement to a glaring typo in an unexpected place -- a billboard for South Florida Career College.

Hollywood residents said the billboard reads "It's never too late to start you career" -- with the "you" an apparent typo filling in for the grammatically correct "your" -- WSVN-TV, Miami, reported.

"I think it's not a good career starter if you can't spell it right," local man Phil Dematteo said.

The college declined to comment on the error and would not reveal whether the typo was the fault of school officials, the designers of the billboard or those charged with posting the advertisement.

Colo. housing authority eyes nudity rules

BOULDER, Colo., March 23 (UPI) -- A Colorado housing authority said it wants new public nudity rules after complaints about a couple seen gardening at their home dressed in nothing but thongs.

Betsey Martens, executive director of Boulder Housing Partners, a non-profit offering low-income housing in the city, said residents of Boulder's Foothills Community neighborhood have lodged numerous complaints about Robert and Catharine Pierce, a nudist couple often seen wearing next to nothing outside of their home, The (Boulder) Daily Camera reported

Martens said lack of action on state and local laws, which currently allow for topless dress outdoors, led the housing organization to seek its own new rules to address the issue.

"We spent the winter working with and watching the city's anti-nudity law, and right now spring is here, and that law remains unchanged," Martens said. "Absent a law change, we now will amend our house rules to make it clear that this is a family community, and respect for children on the site needs to be observed."

The spokeswoman did not give details of the planned rule changes.

Robert Pierce vowed to fight for his wife's right to go topless outside.

"If they receive a dollar of government money, they can't discriminate against us," he said. "If they want a challenge, they'll get a challenge."

Red creek irks locals

NEW ALBANY, Ky., March 23 (UPI) -- Kentucky officials said the deep red color sported by the waters of Slate Run Creek in recent days was caused by red dye spilling into the body of water.

The Indiana Department of Emergency Management said an "employee error" by a Wise Technical Manufacturing worker who had only been with the company for about a week led to many gallons of red dye being spilled into the creek, a fork of Indiana's Silver Creek near New Albany, Ky., WHAS-TV, Louisville, Ky., reported.

State and local officials said they were investigating.

Some residents expressed anger at the deep red color of the creek.

"It's a sanctuary but it's also our water supply," Leslie Turner said. "People don't realize this goes down in the water shed and becomes part of the water that we drink."
