REDWOOD CITY, Calif., March 19 (UPI) -- Animal lovers in Redwood City, Calif., may have a new visitor to their community: A mountain lion was seen in their neighborhood, emergency officials say.
The big cat was spotted near California Way and Summit Way about 6:35 p.m. in the area of Emerald Lake and Easter Bowl, Bay City News Service reported Friday.
Mountain lions allegedly prefer to avoid confrontations, but county officials are warning residents to avoid problems and keep away from the big kitties.
Mountain lions are crepuscular, meaning they are most active at dawn and twilight, so residents are advised not to jog or hike at those times, San Mateo County officials said.
