Police in Mount Washington said a man called 911 Wednesday morning and said he was using an aluminum baseball bat to keep a burglar from fleeing, the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported.
The resident, who was not named, told officers who arrived at 5:30 a.m. he felt someone climb into bed with him and said his girlfriend's name, thinking she was the one joining him.
However, he said he was shocked to hear a deep voice respond: "No it's not."
Investigators said the doors to the apartment building and the resident's dwelling had been forced open.

Juror accused of credit card theft
NEW YORK, March 18 (UPI) -- Police in New York said a juror in a credit card theft trial allegedly stole a fellow juror's credit card to use on lunch break shopping sprees.
Investigators said Jennifer Mercado, 20, who was sitting on a jury for a burglary, grand larceny and possession of a stolen credit card trial, allegedly swiped fellow juror John Postrk's American Express card and used it to buy $500 worth of merchandise, the New York Daily News reported.
Mercado said Postrk, 49, gave her permission to use the card March 8 because "he came on to me."
"It's a he-said, she-said situation. In court, they will find out he's lying," she said.
Postrk said prosecutors have asked him not to speak about the case.
Mercado, who was removed from the jury, was arrested March 12 and charged with grand larceny, stolen property, identity theft and unlawful use of a credit card. She could face up to four years in prison if convicted.
Dog rescued from ice twice
NEW YORK, March 18 (UPI) -- Authorities in New York state said a dog rescued from the thawing ice of Lake Erie had to be rescued a second time when it sprinted back onto the ice.
The Erie County Sheriff's Department said the dog was first spotted Monday night on the ice near Westfield. The department's Air One Helicopter tracked the canine down Tuesday morning and Capt. Kevin Caffery was lowered from the chopper to rescue the dog, WGRZ-TV, Buffalo, N.Y., reported.
However, Caffery said the dog fled shortly after being turned over to the Westfield Fire Department and had to be rescued from the ice a second time.
The captain said the incident was an opportunity for rescuers to keep their skills sharp in the event of a human in similar danger.
The dog, which belonged to a Farnham man, had been missing for four or five days. It was taken a veterinarian to be checked out.
