LONDON, Feb. 22 (UPI) -- A former member of British rock group The Smiths said he was "ecstatic" to have his $46,000 guitar back 10 years after it was stolen in London.

Police said Johnny Marr's guitar was taken from the Scala nightclub after a 2000 show and there was no word of his beloved instrument until investigators received a recent tip-off about a man allegedly in possession of the cherry red 1964 Gibson SG, Sky News Online reported Monday.

Investigators said Stephen White, 38, admitted to taking the guitar as a "spur-of-the-moment decision" after the show and is now "disgusted" with his own actions.

White pleaded guilty to the theft and was sentenced to 200 hours of community service.

Marr said he is not angry with White and is just "ecstatic" to have the guitar back where it belongs.
