Canadian drives intruder from her home

PORT MCNEILL, British Columbia, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A noisy assault by a Canadian woman scared away a cougar, prompting it to leap out the door, she said.

The furry intruder attacked Marjorie Walton's Dalmatian dog Cyrus in British Columbia Thursday, apparently intent on a meal, as Walton opened her sliding glass door to let the dog in, the Victoria Times Colonist reported Sunday.

"He charged into the house like lightning and when I bent down to undo his leash, the cougar came running in at 90 miles an hour. I can still feel his body against my leg," said Walton, who was confused as to why the cougar invaded her home.

Walton began a noise campaign to drive the big cat away,

"I was screaming and yelling, 'Get the hell out of here. What the hell are you doing in here?' I was clapping and swearing at him," she said. "He was pounding the hell out of my glass and he couldn't get out."

China, ornaments and plant pots were broken by the cat trying to get out but neither Walton nor her dog were injured, the Times Colonist said.

Walton's daughter-in-law Linda said the cougar met its match.

"She (raised) two rambunctious twin boys, so the cougar didn't stand a chance."

$2.5 million lottery ticket goes uncashed

INDIANAPOLIS, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A winning lottery ticket worth $2.5 million purchased in Indianapolis has expired without anyone cashing it in, authorities say.

The Hoosier Lotto ticket -- bought at the Southport Road Meijer store for the drawing Aug. 19, 2009 -- won for somebody, but reached its 180-day deadline for cash-in at 5 p.m. Friday without that somebody coming forth, WISH-TV, Indianapolis, reported Saturday.

Meijer customer Melanie Steiner had a theory what happened.

"I think it could be somebody with short-term memory loss," she speculated. "Or somebody with a lot of kids, and it got lost in the parking lot."

Another customer was sympathetic.

"It's sad for somebody. Well, for all of us, really. If somebody gets a winner we like to see 'em cash it in," said Charlie Cress.

Dozens of people have asked the manager of the store about the existence of a surveillance tape to help figure out who might have bought the golden ticket, but the manager said it wouldn't matter because one needs possession of the ticket to have claimed the prize, WISH said.

This is the third multimillion dollar ticket to go unclaimed in the 20-year history of the Indiana state lottery. The money will go into an unclaimed prize fund used for future promotions and games.

Longest-serving NYC police officer retires

NEW YORK, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- Lt. John Wolf, the longest-serving police officer in New York, is off the job, leaving just before hitting the mandatory retirement age of 63.

Wolf's wife, Kathy, joined him for a "Walk Out" Friday at the Manhattan South headquarters on 42nd Street, The New York Daily News reported. Wolf spent 36 years with the Manhattan South Task Force.

The couple walked together through a double row of Wolf's colleagues and commanders.

Many New York police officers leave after 20 years when they become eligible for a pension, and most are gone once they hit the 30-year mark. But Wolf, an officer for nearly 45 years, said he was having too much fun.

"If I could stay longer I would," Wolf said. "There's a Chinese proverb: Find what you like to do and you'll never have to work. I just enjoy police work."

Wolf, who grew up in the Yorkville neighborhood on Manhattan's upper East Side, joined the department in 1965 as a fingerprint technician. Three years later, he was a police officer.

Sexlets gum claims to increase male libido

NEW YORK, Feb. 15 (UPI) -- A Florida company says its chewing gum, Sexlets, can be purchased in New York by men hoping to increase their libido.

Tommy Babil said his new gum product can be purchased without a prescription and as a Sexlets consumer, he can attest to the product's effectiveness in the bedroom, the New York Daily News reported.

"The first thing I noticed was more energy," Babil, 37, said. "Then, after about four days of chewing, I noticed the erections were stronger."

Not that Sexlets should be viewed as a cure for anything, Babil adds, simply a way for men to enjoy a noticeable boost to their libido.

"We don't claim to cure anything," he said. "It's more like a chewable vitamin. I chew my multi-vitamins every day and chew my Sexlets every day."

The Daily News said Sexlets contain all-natural items like ginseng and Vitamin E. A 15-stick pack of the gum can be purchased for $11.97 in New York.
