NEW YORK, Feb. 5 (UPI) -- Police in New York posted a comment to an arrested suspect's Facebook page thanking him for detailing his alleged crimes online.

Capt. Richard Podgers, chief of detectives for the City of Lockport Police Department, said he posted a note to the Facebook page of Christopher Crego, 39, thanking him for filling his profile with pictures of guns, descriptions of his criminal cases and even a newspaper article declaring him one of Lockport's "10 Most Wanted," The Buffalo (N.Y.) News reported Friday.

"It was due to your diligence in keeping us informed that now you are under arrest," Podgers wrote.

The captain said Crego was arrested at the Indiana tattoo parlor he listed as his place of employment on the Web site.

"He even listed their address for us," Podgers said, "so we didn't have to search (very hard). And he gave us his hours, so we were able to know when he would come to work, look for his car, come into work and arrest him."

Crego faces charges including assault, driving while intoxicated, improper lane use, failure to keep right and unlawful possession of marijuana in Lockport. He is facing an additional five counts of animal cruelty in Buffalo, authorities said.
