NEW YORK, Jan. 31 (UPI) -- New York neighborhoods sport Wi-Fi network names that reflect the unique attitudes of people naming their cyber-territories, Wi-Fi aficionados said.
The laptops of wireless Internet users reveal the names that pop up throughout the city, the New York Daily News reports.
"Turndownyourmusic" changes to "Wehaveroaches."
East Side Wi-Fi users have "killhealthcare," "betterthanbush" and "Palinsux."
Others have "jesussaves," "godisfake," "endofdays," "singleandluvinit" and "needaman."
Staten Island resident Alex Haddad tried to help his amorous roommate get the girl with "JohnwantsSarah" but it didn't work.
"No way," said Haddad. "He never asked her out in person."
"People want to express themselves, they want to be outrageous, clever, witty or disgusting without having to compromise their identity," said Alexandra Janelli, 28, who collects cyber-territory names.
