NEW YORK, Jan. 25 (UPI) -- A mysterious New York limo driver who smokes complimentary marijuana with his passengers said he has been offering the $100 an hour service for 11 years.

The chauffeur, who only gave his name as Al, said rides are booked by customers who call his cell phone number, somewhat of a secret in late-night club circles, and customers are treated to a 1970s-inspired atmosphere complete with a disco ball and red leather seats, the New York Daily News reported Monday.

"I've been doing this a long time: 11 years," said Al, who lit two marijuana cigarettes and shared them with passengers during the ride with the Daily News reporter, who did not partake. "I take you where you need to go in the city in an enjoyable atmosphere."

However, the Daily News said Al denied any involvement with marijuana when reached on his cell phone the day after the ride and asked if he was worried about being caught.

"I got to be honest, I don't know what you're talking about," he said. "It's about a ride from destination to destination. If you guys did more than what was legal, that was up to you guys, not me."
