WEST BLOOMFIELD, Mich., Jan. 20 (UPI) -- Michigan police said an angry father allegedly drove a car belonging to his daughter's boyfriend onto an icy lake with the teenager still inside.
Police said Scott David Sullivan, 43, of West Bloomfield, arrived at a beach near Pleasant Lake at about 1:30 a.m. Tuesday and found his 14-year-old daughter and her 16-year-old boyfriend in the back seat of the boy's parked 2010 Dodge Charger, WDIV-TV, Detroit, reported Wednesday.
Investigators said Sullivan became enraged and pulled his daughter from the car. He then jumped into the driver's seat and drove the car onto the ice with the 16-year-old still in the back.
The 16-year-old said he tried to drive his car off the ice after Sullivan left and drove off with his daughter, but one of the wheels had sunk into the ice. He was still in the car when police arrived. Authorities said he was not injured.
Sullivan was charged with malicious destruction of property and reckless driving. He was released after posting $500 bail.
