Cross-country drive on 2 gallons of gas

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah, Jan. 15 (UPI) -- Authorities in Utah said a man stole a car from a dealership by claiming to be a Major League Baseball player and promising to return to pay later.
Papers filed in Utah state court charge Matthew Van Meter, 24, of Elko., Nev., with using documents identifying him as Chicago Cubs outfielder Tyler Colvin to buy a $50,000 2010 Dodge pickup Tuesday from a Ken Garff dealership in West Valley City with the promise to return with payment the following day, The Salt Lake Tribune reported Friday.
Van Meter, who also has an outstanding warrant for theft in Tacoma, Wash., was arrested Thursday and taken to Salt Lake County jail. He was charged with felony counts of theft and forgery.
