SMITHFIELD, Pa., Jan. 8 (UPI) -- A man clad in a hospital gown stole money from his ex-girlfriend at a Wal-Mart in Pennsylvania and fled on a motorized cart, state police say.

Investigators said Craig David Jr., 32, of Smithfield met his ex-girlfriend, Misty Shriver, at the Wal-Mart Supercenter shortly after 7 p.m. Tuesday after she agreed to give him money for a prescription medication, the Uniontown (Penn.) Herald Standard reported Friday.

However, police said David grabbed the $10 Shriver had intended to give him along with two $20 bills and fled across the store's parking lot in a motorized cart Wal-Mart provides for disabled customers.

David, who had been released from a hospital earlier in the day for reasons not disclosed by police, was arrested and charged with robbery and disorderly conduct. He was jailed in lieu of $20,000 cash bond.

Police said David had been charged just four days prior to the incident with simple assault and harassment stemming from an altercation with his parents.
