SAN DIEGO, Dec. 30 (UPI) -- An Illinois woman said her 3,132.5-mile run from Boston to San Diego raised $11,000 for an organization promoting health for young girls.
Katie Visco, 24, of Glen Ellyn, said she crossed through 15 states and wore out nine pairs of Puma running shoes from the start of her run March 19 to the conclusion Tuesday at the Pacific Ocean, the Arlington Heights (Ill.) Daily Herald reported Wednesday.
"The one thing I can think right now is everything out there in the world is possible," Visco said after finishing her run Tuesday. "Seeing the water and hitting the ocean and knowing that I did it ... now everything is possible. It was total bliss."
Visco said she raised $11,000 for Girls on the Run, a non-profit dedicated to promoting health and well-being of young girls.
The runner said she plans to write a book about her accomplishment as well as continue on with her favorite pastime, the newspaper reported.
"My goal," she said, "is to run across every continent."
