Kansas City coach gives cash to stranger

Dec. 29, 2009 at 6:17 PM

KANSAS CITY, Mo., Dec. 29 (UPI) -- Kansas City Chiefs Coach Todd Haley approached a stranger at a bus stop and gave him a late Christmas present -- a stack of $20s, the recipient said.

Brian Mondaine said he was waiting for a bus the day after Christmas in Kansas City and he recognized a man approaching him as Haley, who Mondaine said he had not previously met, KCTV, Kansas City, reported Tuesday.

"He handed me a stack of 20s said 'Merry Christmas,'" Mondaine said.

"Thanks coach," Mondaine said he told Haley.

"It's touching," he said of the encounter. "I just want to say thank you."

The gift recipient said he would more than happy to return Haley's favor.

"If he ever needs help as a water boy, I'm here," Mondaine said.
