ARDMORE, Okla., Dec. 17 (UPI) -- The Oklahoma Highway Patrol said no one was injured when a homemade blimp made an emergency landing on the median of Interstate 35.

Police said the blimp, piloted by Marvin Polzein, 79, experienced a mechanical failure Wednesday afternoon and made an emergency landing near Ardmore, shutting down the northbound lanes of I-35 for a short time while authorities removed the aircraft, The Oklahoman (Oklahoma City) reported Thursday.

Polzein, president of the Guest Inn in Ardmore, said a previous version of his homemade blimp was destroyed in May when it accidentally took off without a pilot and floated 110 miles before crashing into a tree in Decatur, Texas.
