SANTA ROSA, Calif., Dec. 16 (UPI) -- A Web site pays tribute to Ludwig van Beethoven on his 239th birthday by way of Schroeder, the Beethoven fan in the Peanuts comic strip.

The site is based on the museum exhibit "Schulz's Beethoven, Schroeder's Muse," a joint project of the Ira F. Brilliant Center for Beethoven Studies at San Jose State University and the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center in Santa Rosa, Calif., the San Jose Mercury News reports. The exhibit is online at www.americanbeethovensociety.org.

Schroeder, who plays piano in Peanuts, began celebrating Beethoven's Birthday in the strip decades ago. By Dec. 16, 1964, he discovered to his disappointment that none of his guests knew "Ode to Joy," which ends the Ninth Symphony and is probably Beethoven's most celebrated work.

The Web site provides a cheat sheet by linking to video posted on YouTube of "Ode to Joy" with Gustavo Dudamel conducting the Los Angeles Philharmonic.
