TUALATIN, Ore., Dec. 14 (UPI) -- An Oregon man said a 3-month-old kitten survived a 120-mile ride in sub-freezing temperatures below his vehicle as he drove home from Washington.
Marc Lichty said he first heard a meowing noise coming from below his sport-utility vehicle Wednesday when he stopped for gas on his way home to Tualatin from work in Olympia, Wash., KPTV, Portland, Ore., reported Monday.
Lichty said he could not find any trace of an animal on or in his vehicle, so he drove the rest of the way to his house, where he again heard the cat calls.
"Sure enough, the cat was up underneath in the spare tire spot up there," Lichty said.
Lichty said his daughter coaxed the kitten out from under the vehicle and brought him inside. He said his family is now considering names for the new addition.
"Well, we've got a few floating around," he said. "Chevy. And there's Tahoe, Pitch and Lucky. Nothing quite yet."
