LACONIA, N.H., Dec. 11 (UPI) -- Authorities in New Hampshire said they arrested a man who led an officer on a high-speed snowmobile chase with a young boy in tow.
New Hampshire Fish and Game conservation officers said John Williams, 25, had his 7-year-old son on the back of his snowmobile when he fled an officer who tried to stop him for operating the vehicle on a closed trail in Gilford about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday, the New Hampshire Union-Leader reported Friday.
Williams, who police said was driving a stolen snowmobile, led the officer on a high-speed chase, weaving in and out of traffic on Route 11 before turning onto Lake Street.
A New Hampshire State Police trooper joined the pursuit and Williams was arrested after pulling into a driveway off Lake Street in Laconia. Investigators said they believe the snowmobile was one of two reported stolen in January.
Williams was charged with receiving stolen property, operating on a public way, reckless conduct and disobeying a conservation officer. He was released on $3,000 bail.
The 7-year-old boy was released into the custody of a family member.
