MARAENUI, New Zealand, Dec. 10 (UPI) -- A New Zealand florist is facing charges after she allegedly altered details about her competitors on Google Maps, authorities said.

Kendra Drinkwater, 40, was charged with causing losses to seven fellow florists in the Hawke's Bay region by using Google to alter their details without claim of right on several occasions between Nov. 1 and Dec. 4, The Dominion Post reported Thursday.

Google described the case as the first incident of "editing with ill intent" in New Zealand. The company encouraged business owners to register as verified owners to prevent others from editing their details.

Drinkwater, who runs Napier Florist from her Maraenui home, could face up to seven years in prison if convicted.
