STERLING, Conn., Dec. 9 (UPI) -- A Connecticut dairy farmer says a newborn calf born on his farm with a white cross on its forehead might be "a message from up above."
Brad Davis of Sterling, Conn., said he did not immediately notice the white marking on the mostly-brown calf when it was born last week, WFSB-TV, Hartford, Conn., reported Wednesday.
"At first we didn't notice his marking, until later in the day and his fur dried and then it went back into position and the hair straightened out," Davis said. "That's when we noticed we had something special here."
Davis said he hasn't yet determined the meaning, if any, behind the marking.
"Well, I think it's maybe a message from up above. I'm not sure. We're still trying to figure that out," he said.
Megan Johnson, a fellow Sterling dairy farmer, said she is convinced the calf's marking is divine in nature.
"Well I wasn't surprised. I wasn't surprised at all because the dairy industry has needed a miracle for a long time and this is it. I think it's divine intervention, personally. I'm in the breeding business and I know about reproduction and genetics and I don't think this could happen again in a million cows."
