Cross-country drive on 2 gallons of gas

JONESTOWN, Pa., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- Police in Pennsylvania said a 13-year-old girl driver who led officers on a high speed chase along two highways was charged with several violations.
Pennsylvania State Police said officers began pursuing the 1994 Pontiac Grand Am at 9:39 a.m. on Interstate 81 in Swatara Township when the driver failed to stay in her lane and refused to pull over, the Harrisburg (Pa.) Patriot-News reported Tuesday.
The driver led police on a high speed chase, reaching 100 mph, for nine miles before coming to a stop on an off-ramp for Interstate 78, police said.
The motorist, a 13-year-old girl whose name was not released, was taken into custody and charged with several violations, authorities said.
