CLOVIS, N.M., Dec. 8 (UPI) -- A Clovis, N.M., family says large parts of their elaborate holiday yard scene have been snatched by thieves for the second consecutive year.

A large Santa with a sleigh and reindeer and an oversize snowman riding a motorcycle with a sidecar full of penguins had vanished from the Gilliard family's yard when they awoke Dec. 1, The Clovis (N.M.) Journal reported Tuesday.

Last year, thieves stole a large Grinch commanding a sleigh pulled by little dogs, Tonia Gilliard told the Journal.

For the rest of this holiday season, the Gilliards have vowed to keep close watch over a remaining nativity scene, a second Santa and several other oversized decorations.

"If it's kids, that's just mean," Gilliard said of the thieves' actions. "If it's adults, well, that's even meaner."
