COPENHAGEN, Denmark, Dec. 4 (UPI) -- A group of Danish prostitutes said they are offering free sex to delegates at a United Nations conference to protest officials discouraging potential patrons.
The prostitutes said they are offering free sex to delegates at the U.N. Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen to protest city officials asking 160 hotels not to arrange prostitutes for guests during the meeting, The Copenhagen Post reported Friday.
Mayor Ritt Bjerregaard also wrote to each of the 500 delegates visiting the city for the conference and asked them to abstain from permitting the services of prostitutes.
"It's completely discriminatory. Ritt Bjerregaard is abusing her position when she uses her power to prevent us from carrying out our legal work," said Susanne Molle, a spokeswoman for sex workers interest group SIO.
