STOCKHOLM, Sweden, Nov. 27 (UPI) -- Swedish authorities said a man who admitted to paying for sex told them he went to the prostitute because his wife was pregnant.
Investigators said the 39-year-old man engaged in sexual intercourse and other acts with a Russian prostitute who was under police surveillance at a Stockholm hotel in March 2008, The Local reported Friday.
Police confronted the man as he left the hotel and he immediately admitted to paying the woman $360 for sex.
The man, who was issued a $3,500 fine instead of a trial because of his confession, sent prosecutors a letter asking them to send all correspondence related to the case to his office instead of his home.
He said in the letter that he had gone to the prostitute because his wife was pregnant and hadn't had sex with him in five months. The man wrote that his family was unaware of his transgression and he wanted letters related to the case kept away from them.
