HEBBURN, England, Nov. 25 (UPI) -- A British man who pleaded guilty to repeatedly hitting an elderly woman on a bus said he was "truly sorry" for the incident.
Steven Johnston, 23, pleaded guilty to assault for repeatedly punching Patricia Robinson, 69, on a Hebburn, England, bus Aug. 19 after she confronted him about swearing when she bumped into him during a sudden brake, the Daily Mail reported Wednesday.
"I can't put into words how sorry I am," Johnson told South Tyneside Magistrates' Court. "I've never done anything like this before and I feel terrible for what I've done, but I can't take it back now. All I can do is promise I will never do anything like this again. I just lost my temper and I've regretted it ever since. After I did it I felt sick, guilty and scared. I really want to apologize to the old lady for all the pain and suffering I've caused her. I'm truly sorry."
Magistrates ordered probationers to prepare a pre-sentencing report "with the view of custody or a high level community order."
