NEW YORK, Nov. 23 (UPI) -- A wild turkey that has famously roosted in New York's Battery Park for the past six years is drawing attention from tourists in the run-up to Thanksgiving.
Several tourists and locals stopped in the park Sunday to snap pictures of Zelda, the turkey that has been living in the park for at least six years, the New York Daily News reported Monday.
"She looks so pretty. I will remember that next time I eat turkey," said Florida tourist Geeta Persaud, 28, who posed for pictures with the turkey and friend Lindsay Blair, 25.
"My mom is trying to find a fresh turkey. Maybe I can grab this one, put it in my luggage and take it from New York," Blair joked.
The turkey was named for F. Scott Fitzgerald's wife, Zelda, who was found wandering in Battery Park following a nervous breakdown.
