Tampa police said Basso made the calls Wednesday and operators hung up on him each time, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Friday. Advertisement Basso, who was arrested 15 minutes after his last 911 call, told officers he called 911 because it was the only number he knew that was free while his cell phone was out of minutes. He was charged with making a false 911 call and taken to Hillsborough County Jail.
