Thomas Catcheside, 67, said police came to his Cambridge, England, door at 5:35 a.m. Nov. 5 and he was arrested, fingerprinted and held in a cell for six hours before being issued a $133 fixed-penalty citation and released, the Daily Mail reported.

Catcheside said the charge was "causing harassment, alarm or distress in a public place" related to an Oct. 30 complaint he made to an official visiting the site of an internal staircase Catcheside has been campaigning to have refitted due to "dangerously slippery" conditions. Catcheside said he lost his temper during the argument and used an expletive beginning with the letter "f."

"The police seem to have so much trouble catching proper criminals and here they were dragging me down to the station for defending my rights," he said. "I admit I swore, but I was frustrated because we have been fighting to get these stairs improved for years, writing letter after letter, and the council has taken no notice."

A Cambridge police spokeswoman said "national policy" was followed during the arrest.

Wrapping paper covered in swastikas

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- A Florida woman said she was shocked to find the Christmas wrapping paper she recently purchased was decorated with swastikas.

Casey Lehman of Seminole County said the wrapping paper, which she purchased at Dollar Mania in the Altamonte Mall, was covered in symbols that her mother and fiance agreed were Nazi swastikas, WESH-TV, Orlando, reported.

"If I had sent this out on my Christmas gifts and someone had pointed it out to me I would have been mortified. I would have been really embarrassed," Lehman said.

The manager of the store said he was unaware of the wrapping paper until notified by WESH-TV. He said the wrapping paper, which was no longer at the store, was purchased from wholesalers and he plans to speak with his suppliers to prevent future incidents.

Explicit 'pornaments' back on shelves

JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Christmas ornaments showing reindeer and snowmen in sexual positions are back on store shelves in Jacksonville, Fla., after a three-year hiatus, a pastor says.

The decorations, dubbed "pornaments" by some when they triggered protests three years ago, have returned to the holiday ornament aisles of some shops, WJXT-TV reported. Instead of a line of six sexually oriented ornaments, just the reindeer and snowmen are being offered this holiday season, the Jacksonville TV station said.

Clint Wilder, the Arlington Family Church pastor who organized protests against the ornaments three years ago, said he is even more disgusted by the items now. He did not say if he was planning to take action against the products resurrected this year.
