CHICAGO, Nov. 11 (UPI) -- Burglars stole a 50-inch flatscreen TV and a gun from the home of the No. 3 ranking police officer in Chicago, a police source said.

The police official, who asked not to be identified, said the burglars took a TV and .357 Magnum revolver from the home of Deputy Superintendent Steve Peterson while he was at work during the day Monday, The Chicago Tribune reported Wednesday.

Peterson heads the department's investigative services, which is handling the case, the source said.

Investigators are looking into whether the crime was related to other burglaries in the area, the official said.
