Google glitch mislabels Nevada town
HENDERSON, Nev., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Officials and locals in Henderson, Nev., said a Google Maps error incorrectly identifies the area where their town should be as "Rochester."
Ross Wekesser, a mapping technician for the Henderson Public Works Department, said both Google Maps and Google Earth identify Henderson as Rochester, which is the name of a ghost town outside of Reno, the Las Vegas Sun reported.
"I have no idea how it got there or why it's there, and I know of nothing that it could be," Wekesser said of the error.
Google spokeswoman Elaine Filadelfo said the company is aware of the error and is working to have it corrected. She said she does not know the specific origins of the mistake, as the data on Google Maps and Google Earth are drawn from a number of public and private sources.

School sets sushi roll world record
BERKELEY, Calif., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Officials at the University of California-Berkeley said volunteer students and staff rolled a record-setting 330-foot California sushi roll.
Organizers of the event said the giant sushi roll included 200 pounds of dry rice, 80 pounds each of cucumber and avocado, and 180 pounds of fish along with several pounds of tofu used to make a vegetarian section of the giant dish, the Oakland (Calif.) Tribune reported.
University spokeswoman Kathleen Maclay said the roll beat the previous world record of 300 feet, set in 2001 in Hawaii.
Professor Duncan Williams said the event is part of the school's festivities celebrating the 50th anniversary of the University of California-Berkeley's Center for Japanese Studies.
"A lot of what we're talking about is Japanese hybrids, where Japan meets the world. The California roll is a good example of that," Williams said.

Graffiti artist 'ran out of purple'
PALM BAY, Fla., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Police in Florida said a graffiti artist left an apology -- not for the crime of vandalism, but for an artistic infraction: "Ran out of purple."
Palm Bay police said the message was found scrawled next to a costly yet apparently unfinished purple tagging reading "Solo," Florida Today reported.
Officer Dan Fisher said the graffiti caused about $200 worth of damage to the building. He said the perpetrator could face a criminal mischief charge if arrested and charged.

Deputies: Deer 'intruder' chased from home
EAST LAKE, Fla., Nov. 10 (UPI) -- Authorities in Florida said sheriff's deputies investigating a suspected home intruder discovered a deer thrashing around the inside of a house.
Pinellas County Sheriff's deputies said they entered the East Lake, Fla., home at 1 p.m. Saturday and discovered blood on the kitchen floor, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported.
The deputies said they followed banging noises to a back bedroom and witnessed the deer sprinted out of the room and run around the house. The deputies herded the deer toward an open garage door and the animal ran off into the Brooker Creek Preserve, the Sheriff's Office said.
Sheriff's officials said the homeowners were out of town at the time of the incident. Neighbors boarded up a damaged window and secured the entrances of the home.
