GASTONIA, N.C., Nov. 4 (UPI) -- A 23-year-old woman in Gastonia, N.C., is trying to understand why someone would steal her new mailbox post, a police report indicates.

The Charlotte (N.C.) News & Observer Wednesday said the steel post, which police value at $30, was taken Tuesday after the unidentified Gastonia resident placed it in fresh concrete.

The theft victim said the post was stolen from her home by an unidentified suspect in a vehicle before the concrete could dry.
